Attendee FAQs

What is BladeSystems Insight?

BladeSystems Insight is the leading national executive summit focused on blade, virtualization and other technologies transforming the data center. Now in its fourth year, BladeSystems Insight features an invited audience of senior-level IT decision-makers from large and midsize enterprises coming together with leading technology vendors and industry thought leaders.

Why is this event different from other blade and data center events?

BladeSystems Insight is the first by-invitation-only summit geared to an exclusive audience of top-tier data center decision-makers and featuring the hosted event model where all attendees are pre-qualified and receive a full program package. The invitational model has a successful track record across many IT sectors of helping executives accelerate their product knowledge, vendor engagement and selection process, and overall decision making for technology investment and deployment.

Why are blade-based computing and virtualization two of the hottest areas of data center technology?

Blades are the fastest and most significant growth area in server computing. Blade systems represent highly advanced, ultra-dense servers that fit on a single card and deliver higher performance, lower power consumption and extraordinary economies of scale for the data center. According to IDC, the blade server market – including related applications — will double in size over the next five years and be a $10 billion marketplace by 2010. The blade space is expected to experience a 350% Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) over the next four years.

Virtualization is seen as a key component in the next generation data center. The use of virtualization has matured from simple partitioning and encapsulation to the mobility of virtual machines to improve management and operations of IT environments that range from high availability and disaster recovery to hosted clients and true utility computing. IDC projects the growth for virtualization services for volume servers to experience a phenomenal CAGR of over 33% through 2011 – and the overall virtualization market to more than double in size over the next four years.
